Rocks and Minerals
Rocks and Minerals book design: a school project for
Typography class. I was trying to push the limit between beauty and ruggedness and even ugliness, the way rocks and minerals do.

The book cover is made with Lenticular printing; a technology in which lenticular lenses are used to produce printed images with an illusion of depth. The images change or move as the print is viewed from different angles.

I was trying to capture the essence and complexity of rocks in my illustrations.

By choosing the specific colors I was trying to catch the mix between the ugly and the beautiful by creating something new - just like nature does.

It was important to incorporate the science and mystical side of rocks and minerals.
